Re: Effects of Vehicle Braking on EDR Pre-Impact Speed
Look forward to evaluating that, if possible. First question: where did the speedometer data come from? a video? was this a full scale test? and/or why no EDR data? and how did you synch the speedometer with the ADR data? Second question/observation: location, location, location! In the picture it a...

Re: Effects of Vehicle Braking on EDR Pre-Impact Speed
When you mention ADR (Accident Data Recorder), i'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean the accelerations of the crash from airbag module data and then integrating to get the impact speed change and then when combined with the other vehicle (unless into a wall) get the impact velocity? Could you prov...

Re: Effects of Vehicle Braking on EDR Pre-Impact Speed
You mention many of the types of items we have seen and are looking at and into. For example, Collision Speed may or may not be after significant decelerations have occurred (since which vehicle make/model/etc and what is the criteria for deciding it is 'in a collision'? I expect due to vehicle make...

Re: Effects of Vehicle Braking on EDR Pre-Impact Speed
Some additional information posted to the other forum in response to the question on the "2007 Reust reference** for the quoted " 8% - 18% " All of their vehicles are older GM models (compared to 2023). They range from 2002 to 2005, ACM’s have changed over that time. They further note...

Effects of Vehicle Braking on EDR Pre-Impact Speed
In recent crash investigations with EDR pre-impact data and stability control monitoring data, we have found different speed results when we compare the speed of a vehicle based on the EDR reported pre-impact speed and the Speed calculated and/or simulated through applying the pre-impact recorded de...

High Speed Collision/Airbag Effectiveness Question
Question from another forum: Q: Does anyone have experience of a high speed ~90 -95 mph frontal impact in which the front seat occupants may have been already been in very close proximity to the steering wheel and/or dashboard when the airbags fired?. eg speed high enough to be fatal despite airbags...
