Swiss Court fines speeder $290,000!!

The Swiss have a unique way to try to slow down speeders...hit them where it hurts!
Swiss court fines speeding millionaire $290,000
Jan. 7, 2010, ST. GALLEN, Switzerland — A Swiss court has slapped a wealthy speeder with a chalet-sized fine - a full $290,000. Judges at the cantonal court in St. Gallen, in eastern Switzerland, based the record-breaking fine on the speeder's estimated wealth of over $20 million.
We need to slow down speeders! From research McHenry Software did with the NHMRC Road Accident Research Unit, The University of Adelaide (the research unit us now known as the Centre for Automotive Safety Research:
"In a 60 km/h speed limit area, the risk of involvement in a casualty crash doubles with each 5 km/h increase in traveling speed above 60 km/h"
The aim of this study was to quantify the association between traveling speed and the risk of involvement in a casualty crash. The two subsidiary studies were intended to predict the likely effects on injury and crash severity of lower traveling speeds in the cases investigated and to assess the extent to which traveling speed might be related to a driver's blood alcohol concentration (BAC).
