September 27–29, 2010, National Crash Analysis Center • 20101 Academic Way, Ashburn, VA
  • A three day conference combining full scale testing and technical presentations about current topics in automotive safety. The conference will highlight the research being conducted at the participating academic, federal and private institutions. Full scale testing related to at least two of the topics highlighted will be conducted on the first two days of the conference. The final day of the conference will consist of technical presentations of current research. This conference will showcase the research being conducted at NCAC in cooperation with NHTSA, FHWA and industry partners.
  • High Speed Instrumented Testing
    *Conducted at the FHWA Outdoor Impact Laboratory. Each test vehicle will be fully instrumented and captured on high speed video.
    •Rear Impact Occupant Entrapment
    •Multiple Frontal Impact
    *Numerous curb impact tests
    Advanced Topics in Automotive Safety and Accident Reconstruction
    •Review of High Speed Rear-End Vehicle-to-Vehicle Crash Test Data from previous tests conducted for the conference
    •Review of Multiple Frontal Impact Crash Test Data from previous tests conducted for the conference
    •Guardrail Induced Rollover of Passenger Vehicles
    •Roof Crush and Roof Strength Characteristics from JRS Rollover Testing
    •Opportunities for Occupant Protection in Far Side Impacts
    •A Consolidated Summary of the NCAP Crash Test Database
    •Addressing Narrow Overlap Collisions: FLEE and FREE
