  • Formed in 1991, the Michigan Association of Traffic Accident Investigators is an organization designed for investigators and reconstructionists from both the public and private sector, as well as other professionals who share an interest in the field of traffic accident reconstruction. The organization allows members to participate in a continual exchange of ideas and information, keeping them current on changes taking place within this discipline.

MATAI has a membership of approximately 200 members. Most members are from the Michigan region, however we have members located from here to the west coast.

  • From their website: http://www.matai.org/
    • MATAI, was formed to provide a professional affiliation of individuals dedicated to advancement in the technical aspects of motor vehicle traffic accident investigations.
Through their affiliation with MATAI, professionals in the field of accident investigation discuss problem areas and work together to improve the process of accident investigation and the presentation of related evidence in court.
An annual conference and general meeting is held each spring so that members can get together to discuss activities of the past year in the reconstruction field and to prove that the various formulas used in the field are accurate.
Founded in 1986, MATAI was one of the original contributing organizations involved in the development and establishment of the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR). Currently, more than 46% of the MATAI membership is Accredited by ACTAR. Please read a brief history of our organization.
A membership application is available for download in Acrobat Reader format, or you may review membership requirements before downloading or printing an application form.
