Can msmac3D do a pedestrian model, pedestrian crashes or bicycle crashes?

Q: Can msmac3D do a pedestrian model, pedestrian crashes or bicycle crashes?

A: Currently we do not have adding ATB on the docket. A few other things in front of it however hope to get that on the docket in 2018 (and all msmac3D users will get the program as part of annual maintenance, we will NOT add charges for adding programs like ATB to msmac3D).
  • Adding ATB will allow modeling pedestrian/bicycle scenarios.
    Be sure and be aware of our McHenry papers on ATB: Articulated Total Body (ATB). ATB is a brilliant program created by Dr John Fleck however it is mainly for research and general occupant and pedestrian movements since no two humans are alike
    That is the code (or very similar), I believe, both pc-crash and virtual crash use for their pedestrian/multi body occupant simulations. (we have tried to get reference documentation on the pc-crash multi body program will little success )
    Of course HVE has these options (GATB) available too however their initial cost >>$10,000 and annual maintenance >>$3000 is cost prohibitive.
ATB was an open source public domain code.
  • We have worked with and were good friends with the late Dr John Fleck. We worked on many projects over the years and we have and know the ATB code very well. We may add ATB to our arsenal as part of msmac3D but 1st not sure when and 2nd not sure how best to insure that we reel folks in to understand that it is mainly for general occupant kinematics illustration and no more accurate than hand calculations due to the many assumptions about the human being simulated: the posture, the joints, any pre-impact movement, etc etc (see the McHenry papers on ATB: Articulated Total Body (ATB) which applies to ANY and ALL occupant or pedestrian or bicycle simulation programs
