Toyota Takes New Steps to Restore Confidence

Post by MSI »

Feb 17, 2010: NY Times: Toyota Takes New Steps to Restore Confidence

To restore trust in its cars, the company plans to install new brake-override systems in all future models. The override system would ensure that if both the accelerator and brake pedals were pressed down, the brakes would be activated and not the accelerator.
Some experts and drivers have suggested that problems with the electronic throttle systems were partly to blame for the unintended acceleration that has occurred in some Toyotas, but Mr. Toyoda said that was not the case.

Mar 22, 2010: Toyota says it will replace the Accelerator pedals for owners who are unhappy with repairs.
So add another couple hundred million to the tab Toyota is paying to try to eradicate this public relations nightmare.
This comes on the heels of class action suits and government enacted suits and shareholder suits and expensive promises by Toyota to rent vehicles and tow vehicles.
When will it end? When will Toyota owners realize that this lawyer fed fiasco is just a mirage based upon a few unfortunate events which have escalated into Toyotas Gone Wild!
