June 9, 2010: The chorus to that 1971 Don McLean song "American Pie" just doesn't sound right not calling it a Chevy?...
  • So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
    But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die.
"this’ll be the day that I die."
But that's what the powers that be a GM want: Dump the Chevy.
G.M. sent a memo to Chevrolet employees promoting the importance of “consistency” for the brand. And one way they believe is to present a consistent brand message. And that means to stop saying “Chevy,” though the word is one of the world’s best-known, longest-lived product nicknames.
See the article Saving Chevrolet Means Sending ‘Chevy’ to Dump
well here's a go at modifying that tune...

cuz the skys they were dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, "this’ll be the day Chevy dies.
