Dec 17, 2011: Got word that folks from Chevy apparently are sponsoring a 'Spiral Jump' of sorts?
They are calling it a kickflip (a skateboarding term) and it's part of their Let's Do This! promotion.
Stunt to be performed today at 11 AM.
The ramps sure look familiar (metal version of the Spiral Jump take off ramps)

Here's the 'official' video with a couple of views and interview with Dyrdek.
He mentions the 'Bond Spiral jump' and wanting to do that but 'too expensive'????
They never contacted us, a couple of minor tweaks (checking the design/etc for the different car with our simulation program) and we could have done it right! Interview and multiple views of KickFlip
(thanks to Doug Milliken for sending some of these video links. He and i hope to do a second generation Spiral Jump someday! (My father and Doug's father were the team that brought the original spiral jump to life!) Too bad Dyrdek/Chevy didn't think to contact us to get it done right!)

From the boys at TopGear: Video: MTV star Rob Dyrdek goes topsy turvy in Chevrolet’s city car Watch a Chevy Aveo do a barrel roll
And they mention:
"Probably not quite as memorable as Bond's barrel-roll in The Man With The Golden Gun, or indeed our ambitious recreation of that using an MG Maestro, or indeed the record-breaking Aston DBS barrel-roll in Casino Royale"
"The car barrel-roll stunt by the Aston Martin DBS broke the world record for the most barrel rolls assisted by a cannon. Originally, the racing specifications of the DBS meant that a standard ramp would not be sufficient to get the car to roll, so the special effects team were called in to install a air-powered cannon behind the drivers seat. This allowed the car to complete seven full rolls. The stunt was officially entered into the Guinness Book of World Records on 5th November 2006"
"Professional skateboarder and MTV star Rob Dyrdek did something with a Chevrolet Sonic on Saturday that's never been done before: a kick flip. That's what they call it when a skateboard, or a car, corkscrews off a ramp, landing back on four wheels."
um....ok, i guess no one has done it and called it a "kickflip" but it's been done and done much better! (Ok, and sometimes much worse!)
