Graphic Display button

On the medit grid edit screen mode display there is a   button located above the main grid area. The Graphical Display function can also be accessed from the Tools Menu -> Graphical Display menu item.

Selection of the Graphical Display pops up the Graphical Layout view depicted below.

The Graphical Layout Display provides an interactive way to adjust the initial positions, orientations, vehicle dimensions and velocities. When you change any of the fields located to the right of the graphical display, the display is instantly updated to reflect the new positions, orientations or vehicle sizes. This provides a simple interactive procedure to check and refine your m-smac input setup.

You will also note that the graphical display also contains background graphical objects (for example, the lines representing the roadway).

When you select the Graphical Display option, the program also looks for any scene file (suffix .SCE) associated with the currently displayed m-smac input file. The scene datasets are associated with m-smac input datasets when you first create the files with the m-smac Wizard (see the discussion of New projects->Wizard).

If there is no association for the file, (for example, for projects created with previous versions of the medit) the program will automatically look for a scene input dataset file with the same prefix as the currently opened m-smac input dataset. You can interactively associate any scene file with the currently opened m-smac input file. Located to the lower right of the Graphical Layout dialog box is a listing of the currently displayed scene file (Figure 4).

The file is listed in the drop-down list box from which you can select any other existing scene file. When you select a different scene file it immediately displayed. The "Add to Project" command button allows you to instantly associate a scene file with your m-smac input file and add the file to your project file.

The Graphical Layout Display also includes Zoom In and Zoom Out slider bars which provide for adjustment of the relative size of the vehicles in the display (you can also use your Page Up and Page Down keys to perform the same functions). The Vertical and Horizontal Scroll Bars located adjacent to the display allow adjusting the location of the origin graphical view (you can also use your arrow keys to perform these same functions).

On the Graphical Display dialog there are also some new controls to facilitate your ability to move and orientate the vehicles. The Grid Display options (depicted below), which is located on the lower right of the dialog, there is the ability to add circles or grids to the display with varying spacing for reference purposes.

Also on the dialog are “Graphic Widgets” (depicted below) which are controls which allow you to move, rotate or resize the vehicles by the simple click of the mouse.
