Manuals and Help Files

The medit environment has a number of online manuals designed to assist you with the creation and application of the various computer simulation and reconstruction programs. The manuals also include extensive reference lists from which the user can obtain additional technical and historical information on the various computer programs.  These manuals can be accessed by selecting the Help menu item from medit, or pressing the F1 key.

The following is a brief summary of the manuals/Help Files included with the medit environment:

Getting Started

This manual contains information on installing and quickly getting started with the medit environment and associated computer programs.

m-smac Input Manual

This manual contains the instructions for using the m-smac simulation program for the reconstruction of motor vehicle accidents. m-smac is a time-domain mathematical model in which the vehicles are represented by differential equations derived from Newtonian mechanics combined with empirical relationships for some components (e.g., crush properties, tires) that are solved for successive time increments by digital integration.

m-smac Graphics and Animation Manual

This manual contains information on using the smac Graphics (msmacgr) and the smac Animation (mGraphics) graphics programs. smac Graphics (msmacgr) is a graphics program for displaying the summary information and static graphics of individual m-smac simulation runs. smac Animation (mGraphics) is a graphics animation program for displaying an animated view of the results of individual m-smac simulation runs.
