Running m-smac 

The following are instructions to start and run m-smac:

Select the Run menu with either the mouse or the keyboard shortcut <Alt><R>.

    A dropdown menu appears as in Figure 67:

Select the m-smac menu item with the mouse or by pressing the letter <S>.

    You will view the m-smac Run dialog box as depicted in Figure 68:

The Run dialog box contains the various options for running m-smac .

    The only option you may need to change is the Automatic Graphics Call check box. You can choose to call smac Graphics (msmacgr), smac Animation (mGraphics), neither or either (pause after run) after completion of the m-smac runs.

    The other items listed are mainly for your information.

    Click on  to run m-smac .

You are now running m-smac .

NOTE: You can also simply click on the  button from the Quick Access ToolBar as depicted in Figure 54. The Run button simply executes the program associated with the currently open file in medit.

The m-smac , m-smac gr and smac Animation (mGraphics) programs all execute by default as full screen applications. The reasons for the use of full screen display is to obtain maximum performance from your computer. You can optionally change the size of the startup graphics size, please see information in the appendix.

While m-smac executes you will see some messages about initial contact, etc., flashed onto your screen. The program should complete the simulation within 1-5 seconds. Then the m-smac program will automatically call the graphics program you chose to display the results of the simulation.

The view and size of the graphical display screen can also be interactively changed by simple keyboard commands such as Page Up, Page Down, and the arrow keys. You can also right click the mouse to produce a ‘remote’ dialog box from which you can adjust the screen graphical image. (See the m-smac Graphics and Animation Manual for a list of the smac Graphics (msmacgr) Keyboard and ‘remote’ dialog box commands currently available).

    Press <Esc> to exit smac Graphics (msmacgr) and return to medit .

You can run the smac Graphics (msmacgr) program at any time from the Run menu, simply select the m-smac Graphics menu item.

    Select the medit View menu with either the mouse or the keyboard shortcut <Alt><V>.

A dropdown menu appears (Figure 69) with the names of various m-smac created output datasets. Please also see the section on msmac Output Files. You can select and View any of the datasets from this menu. While viewing a dataset you may print the dataset simply by selecting  Print from the Quick Access ToolBar or selecting the File menu and item Print.
