making 2D animations from 3D graphics

Just a note to let you know you can easily make 2D animations with the movie maker in 3D Graphics.
  • The old was is thru the GRID see Making a 2D AVI animation
  • AVIs are huge files so using the 3D graphics movie maker is a better option
it's fast and easy and makes much smaller movies than the old AVI version in the GRID
here's the steps
Run your 2D or 3D simulation in 3D Graphics or from GRID
Then from 3D Graphics select the GRID
  • at top of 3D menu icons see the GRID icon:
Grid from 3D.jpg
A dropdown menu appears, select the bottom 2D Animation icon:
2D Graphics or Animation from 3D.jpg
2D Animation will display, use arrow keys, and other menus to display the animation the way you'd like it in the movie
Then Right click and bring up the popup menu:

Select Print setup dropdown:
2D Print Setup dialog.jpg
Select BMP and then Output w/o pause and Delete OLD bmp files:
option to create bmps.jpg
Then click OK and the sequential bmps will be created
  • once completed Exit (ESC key) to return to 3D Graphics
Select Movie maker icon on bottom of screen:

Once you select Make Movie
Use the dialog to pick where to place it and the movie name

once assembled it will tell how many frames:

Here's a sample where we placed a 2D graphics (right) and 3D graphics(left) (used Camtasia to assemble)
