Jul 9, 2010: Toyota to recall 1998-2010 Sienna minivans. Toyota will notify customers next week of an interim fix for its planned recall of 600,000 Sienna minivans. In April, Toyota announced it would recall 600,000 1998-2010 Sienna 2WD minivans to address potential corrosion in the spare tire carrier cable.
Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons said Friday the company would begin sending letters to owners July 19. The company will notify dealers Monday of the plans to tell customers to get an interim inspection of the spare tire carrier cable. If necessary, dealers will relocate the spare tire.
