Drag Factor Measurements, Techniques and Devices

Post by MSI »

Following information recently posted up to INCR on drag factor measurements
a couple of devices/Companies mentioned: Some information in the INCR thread:
  • The Vericom became much more reliable when they included some GPS, (The newer Vericoms correct for pitch. There is a default value built in, which may be changed by the user) so that I had an independent start speed, along with the motion timer.
  • A group recently completed a series of skid tests with/without abs on 4 different vehicles (2016 Corolla, 2019 BMW 3-Series, Dodge Charger, Chevy Tahoe) using Vericom, VBox Sport and the newest Racelogic device: VBox Performance Touch. The results are being compiled but preliminary results show all 3 are giving similar results. From the tests done with the same vehicles on this same surface last year (and including a Ford interceptor and Chevy pickup) the ABS f does vary from vehicle to vehicle but the skidding (ABS = off) is about the same.
