Post by MSI »

Or simply scroll down

We've added a new dropbox location where we will now put new models so that all our users will have access to new 3DModels as soon as we add them.
PLEASE NOTE: If you update to Models 2.75 all models included. Any new models will have a DATE after 7/22/2020
Please see
  • Dropbox Repository with 3D Models3D
    • These are ZIp files,
    • download to your computer any Model Zip file you want to add,
    • unzip the file to the c:\msoft3D\Models3D directory
    • Then when you start 3DGraphics the Model(s) will be available in the model browser
    • See Changing Video model video
      • this task specific link is to the part in the video that discusses easy changing of vehicle models

Some of these models have been included in the recent update and some are newer. This is a list for you to check if you don't see a model, also we will send out this link when you request a model once the new model is available.
Simply download the model(s) of interest and unzip the files to your
    • c:\msoft3D\Models3D

directory and then they will be available in medit3D.

From 3D graphics click on a vehicle
    This menu comes up:
click on Model and this menu.jpg

DEC 2021 UPDATED The following is a list of currently available 3D Model files.
Rather than send out thousands of models you'll probably never use we simply add them on request.
As a msmac3D licensee you simply request a model and we will add it.
If you don't see one of these models in your list, please check our msmac3D Model Repository
  • if not there contact us (we may be in process of adding or ran into an issue, let us know and we will revisit and then add the model!):

More models posted up today.
We've started using a different CAD program and it's speeding up the process.
Go to Dropbox Models3D this link->
  • New Models3D
    • Download any models you want to your computer,
    • unzip to the c:\msoft3D directory and then they will be available to your msmac3D.
Please let us know if any issues with any of the models.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON 3d Models:
As part of our adding vrml files and decision to move everything to 64-bit (which we will soon) we also noted a LOT of wasted space on 3D Vehicle models due to extremely small mesh size.
We recently started using a great 3D CAD product (Rhino) for working with vrml files and also find we can significantly reduce the size of 3D Models (by 90%!) by simply reducing the number of meshes.
If you have/use a 3D model that is >50-100 megs in size, let us know and we will quickly reduce the model size for you.
Very quick and easy.
We will also add instruction on how to reduce the mesh size on our And of course if you need a 3D Model that isn't available let us know!
