Quick Way to Check for changes in a file

Post by MSI »

Most simulation and reconstruction programs have a print option
The following is a quick way to find any changes/differences between files:

Get the program textpad
  • Excellent program
Then open ANY two files to compare:
  • can be text, or any type of file (binary too!)
  • For this example i made a couple changes to a msmac3D input file which is a text file
    Open two files (see the tabs below)
textpad open 2 files.png
textpad open 2 files.png (17.73 KiB) Viewed 4369 times
select Tools->Compare files:
textpad tools compare files.png
textpad tools compare files.png (10.78 KiB) Viewed 4369 times
Select options (i normally ignore case and spaces):
textpad comparie files options.png
textpad comparie files options.png (12.93 KiB) Viewed 4369 times
And the visual highlights lines that are different etc
