April 2010: News story on CBS news about the potential security risk of most digital copiers: They have disk drives. And on those drives are up to 20,000 digital images. So when you discard your digital copier, you discard a disk drive with many of your images still intact on the disk drive. Doesn't matter if the copier doesn't work, someone may be able to cull your documents off the disk drive! They simply connect it to the proper cable (standard disk cable) and voila! They have many, if not all, of the things you copied on the machine.
Clean the disk drive before donating/discarding your old digital copier!
