A: A good starting point for a discussion of deltaV at locations other than the CG can be found in our 1997 paper:
- "RICSAC-97 - A Reevaluation of the Reference Set of Full Scale Crash Tests", McHenry & McHenry, SAE Technical Paper No. 970961
- In our research documented in that paper we created a hand calculation/spreadsheet analysis procedure to permit the calculation of the deltaV for any location on a vehicle. The reason we developed the technique was to analyze the RICSAC crash tests. In the RICSAC crash tests measurements were made from accelerometers located at locations other than the vehicle Center of Gravity (CG) and so had to be transformed back to the CG.
- SMACTHP is a post-processing tool for msmac which allows users to determine the time history of the acceleration and velocity at any location in the vehicle. The input for SMACTHP is a msmac output time history information.
