We'll also add some notes, etc to help crash reconstructinists deal with vehicles that separate during a crash.
And we might update some of these graphics to our latest 3D graphics
- Most break apart vehicle crash reconstructions we did 20+ years ago when wireform graphics were mainly used.
- Had a recent question on crash reconstruction forum where someone asked about "how to show" a split apart car.
Reminded me of a 1997 case (25 years ago!!) where in a crash a vehicle's engine separated from the vehicle.
After we did a thorough hand calculation analysis we added an option to msmac3D to allow testing and refining the timing of the engine separation and ran the smac simulation reconstruction to find the match of tire marks, rest positions of the vehicles and the trajectory and rest position of the engine.
See the video: (note from more than 1 or 2 decades ago so a VHS transfer so some squiggles)
